Union Minister assures early commissioning of power plants

NEW DELHI, JUN 19:

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Power and New & Renewable Energy, R K Singh on Wednesday assured all support and cooperation of the Centre for robust development of power sector in Arunachal Pradesh.

The Union Minister assured Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein who called him in his office at the national capital to commission Dibang Multi-Purpose project at the earliest. He also said that two machines of Kameng Hydro-power project will be made functional soon and the rest two machines after the six months.

Mein appraised the Union Minister about the power scenario in the state and discussed several issues for development of hydro-power and robust power system. He briefed Singh about the technical problem in the Kameng Hydro-Power (600 MW) which needs to be solved immediately for early commissioning of the project.

Informing that all formalities for Dibang Multi-purpose (2800 MW) project has been completed, the deputy chief minister pressed for early start of the project.

He also informed the Union Minister that the hydro-power projects of 22 power developers in the State were terminated due to their inability to make progress in the project even after years of signing MoU between them and the state government.

Mein further requested the Union Minister for early release of fund under Saubagya and DDUGSY of the preceding year and the need to expedite the Comprehensive Power Transmission Scheme. He also requested for a package from the Centre to replace and renovate the old infrastructure for ensuring uninterrupted power supply system in the State.

The DCM also requested to take two transmission systems from Kopi-Tawang and Rupai-Namsai under the Transmission scheme as it could not be taken up under NLCPR.
